Support

Need help? Email ricardo@sawirstudio.com. A person reads every message.

When you report a problem, it helps to include your iPad model, your iPadOS version, what you were doing when it happened, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Rindraw doesn't send us crash reports or anything else on its own, so what you tell us is all we have to go on.

Your drawings

Where are my drawings stored?

On your iPad, in the Files app under On My iPad › Rindraw. Each drawing is a single .rindraw file. Rindraw doesn't upload them anywhere.

Do I need to save?

No. Every change is written to the file as you make it, including your undo history, so you can close the app at any time.

I deleted a drawing by mistake.

Open your list of drawings and look under Recently Deleted. Tap the drawing, or swipe it, and choose Restore. Deleted drawings are kept for 30 days.

How do I back up my work?

Rindraw's files are included in your iPad's iCloud or computer backup, if you have backups turned on. You can also copy drawings anywhere you like from the Files app: iCloud Drive, a USB drive, or another app.

How do I move my drawings to a new iPad?

Restoring the new iPad from a backup, or using Quick Start, brings them across with the app. Otherwise, copy the .rindraw files from On My iPad › Rindraw on the old iPad and put them in the same folder on the new one.

Does Rindraw sync with iCloud?

Not yet. Drawings live on the iPad they were made on, which also means Rindraw works fully offline.

Brushes and colors

How do I import brushes?

Open a .rinbrush file from Files, AirDrop or Mail and it opens in Rindraw. Or, in the brush library, choose Import Brushes…. You can export your own brushes the same way to share them.

Can I use swatches from other apps?

Yes. Rindraw reads Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) files, which Photoshop, Illustrator and many other apps make. Tap the palette button on the color strip, choose Palettes…, then Import Swatch File….

Will an update change my brushes?

No. We don't change how your existing brushes behave without asking you first.

Exporting

What can I export?

PNG (with or without a background), JPEG, HEIC and 16-bit TIFF, a PDF with a page per frame, and a timelapse video of the drawing being made. Find these under the drawing's menu at the top left, or under a frame's menu for one page.

Why do HEIC and TIFF colors look richer than JPEG and PNG?

HEIC and TIFF export in Display P3, the wide color your iPad shows. JPEG and PNG export in sRGB, which every screen and website understands.

Apple Pencil

What do I need?

An iPad with iPadOS 18 or later and an Apple Pencil. Pressure, tilt and hover work with any Pencil that supports them. Squeeze and barrel roll need Apple Pencil Pro.

What does squeezing Apple Pencil Pro do?

It opens a color palette at the tip, or the Quick Menu if you prefer. Change it in the ⋯ menu under Squeeze Opens. A four-finger tap also opens the Quick Menu.

Purchases

How do I get a refund?
